Stone Broken Interview

Hallo Rocker!

Nach Stone Sour kommt… Richtig, Stone Broken!

COMEBACKSTAGE:
Tell me your bands story…

STONE BROKEN:
We formed in 2013, Rich and Robyn played together in numerous bands, as well as Chris and Kieron. So Stone Broken you could say is an amalgamation of two bands. When all four of us got together we spent nearly a year locked away in a lockup jamming and writing before we played our first show. We really wanted to make sure we were ready, we didn’t just want to rush into things. Since then we just gigged and gigged and tried to gain a good local following, then just develop that further by getting our songs played on national radio and build our fan base.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
Who’s part of the band?

STONE BROKEN:
We have Rich on vocals and guitars, Robyn on drums, Chris on lead guitar & Kieron on bass.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
Where does your band’s name come from and how did you come up with the idea for it?

STONE BROKEN:
When we first started out, we all sat down in our rehearsal studio and made a list of all the equipment we needed, all of the studio time and hiring a video production company for the promo videos, we looked at the total amount of money that we would need to spend (it was A LOT) and Robyn said that we will be “Broke, Stone Broke“ which is a saying in the UK meaning we wouldn’t have any money left. It then developed to Stone Broken and it stuck.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
Where do you see yourself musically, what are your band’s influences?

STONE BROKEN:
Personally we all draw on different influences, and all the personal influences come together to form the Stone Broken sound. Although collectively the band on a whole are influenced by bands such as Black Stone Cherry, Alter Bridge, Shinedown, and Stone Sour.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
How many albums did you release and how are they called?

STONE BROKEN:
We self-released our Debut Album back in 2016 called All In Time, and we are just about to release our second Album which is called Ain’t Always Easy on the 2nd March…so we are still very much at the beginning of our career but we now have an awesome record label behind us, so it will be our first full release in Europe, which we are really looking forward to.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
Which topics do you talk about in your songs?

STONE BROKEN:
The topics of our songs vary really, we mostly draw upon our own life experiences and focus on topics that have a personal meaning to us. We address issues such as addiction and domestic violence on “Ain’t Always Easy”, we thought that it was important to start talking about issues that don’t get talked about very much, but we always end on a positive note, to let people know who may be suffering from one of these issues, that there is help out there so don’t give up hope! Our songs tend to resonate so much with people from all walks of life.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
What are your experiences as a young rock band?

STONE BROKEN:
We’ve been on the live music scene for a few years now and have been extremely lucky to play with some amazing bands in some awesome places. From Glenn Hughes to Cheap Trick, we’ve had the opportunity to tour not just the UK but countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Austria and other European countries. Last year we played Download festival for the first time in the UK, and opened up the main stage at Ramblin‘ Man Fair festival.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
What are your goals with the band?

STONE BROKEN:
We have some pretty exciting things in the pipeline over the next 12 months. We will be releasing our second album in March, which we hope will reach a wider audience. We want to tour more countries and gain new fans, we would love the band to continue to grow so we can continue to make music for years to come.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
Why do you really want to make it and what do you do to make it work?

STONE BROKEN:
We love making music, and it would be a dream come true if we could make a living doing something we love. We work everyday whether its things behind the scenes, or practicing. There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t work on anything band related.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
Which song of your band should everyone know and why?

 STONE BROKEN:
We have a few different song styles, ranging from heavy rockers to soft ballads. So it would depend on what the listener prefers, we like to think we have a song for everyone. Wait For You is a very popular song that our fans like to sing along to, we also have rockers like Not Your Enemy that’s also a fan favourite.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
If you could support any band on tour, who would it be?

STONE BROKEN:
I think we all have our favourite artist we would love to support. I think going on tour with bands like Black Stone Cherry, Alter Bridge, Shinedown and Halestorm would be awesome if we could get on some shows with them.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
Where are your upcoming shows?

STONE BROKEN:
We’re about to start our first headline tour in UK and Europe. We will be visiting Germany, France, Belgium and the Netherlands, so we’re pretty excited to see how hard the European fans rock. We’ve also recently announced festivals we’ll be appearing at in the summer, including Download in France and Graspop in Belgium.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
What do you guys do as a main job?

STONE BROKEN:
To be honest, being in the band is a full time job, it has to be if you want to make it in this industry. Hard work and passion for what we do is what drives us, so it does take up most of our time.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
If you had to convince a young person to listen to rock music, which song would you show him/her and why?

STONE BROKEN:
I think one of the most iconic bands to start with would be Aerosmith. They’ve influenced so many bands and styles over the years, that songs such as ‘Dude looks like a lady’ would be a great introduction to the rock genre.

COMEBACKSTAGE:
If you could have a fantasy dinner with three persons of your choice, who would you invite?

STONE BROKEN:
I would say Dave Grohl, Steven Tyler and Ozzy Osbourne. I feel this would be an interesting party to say the least! In fact I think that party was filmed it would make the best TV viewing ever!

COMEBACKSTAGE:
Haha I like the choice! Thanks a lot for your time guys! The last words are yours…

STONE BROKEN:
Thank you!! Check out our new album – ‘Ain’t Always Easy’ – which is out on 2nd March. We hope to see some of you on the road and thank you for all of your support. We really couldn’t do what we do without the amazing fans we have.
